This week, I had a meeting with one of our customers. They had 14 sites installed, and we were discussing the options for consolidating their other divisions to run on the same systems - removing the need to manage 3 other ERP platforms.
Part of the conversation was around technology infrastructure which for us is very Microsoft centric. During the conversations, Linux was bought up, which has always been a red flag for me, because in the past I have realized that there are either Linux (Open source) or Microsoft (Monopoly) disciples. Waging a Microsoft crusade against Linux evangelists is a loosing battle. Then he said something both funny and insightful that gave me hope:
"I'm not a fan of Elton John, but I do like all of his songs"

Microsoft have a large footprint within most ofrganizations, and they have a lot of great applications that you use regardless of if you like it or not - i.e. Active Directory, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, MS SQL Server.
Deep down in your IT soul, regardless if you are not a Microsoft fan, you still like to use their software...
